Netball Trials
Does my child have to trial for a team?
We do trials for league teams twice a year (around September & March time for Juniors and around September & January time for Adults). No one HAS to trial, we welcome all interested players to try-out for these. However, we also monitor players development whilst at the club and encourage, if we see ability in a player that they may not see themselves.
League Teams
What is expected of me if I am selected to play in a Junior League Team?
If you are successful at junior trials and are selected to play for your age group in a league team, this does require some commitment from both the player and the parents, as it is mandatory that players train together with their team once per week (day is dependent on age group, but generally a Tuesday or Thursday late afternoon/early evening) plus also attend one other netball session per week and sign up to the junior league monthly subscription plan and also be available for the matches which are normally held by Bournemouth & Poole netball clubs and generally held at weekends between October and May (info and finalised dates are shared with players in advance through our communications app ‘Spond’). There are also league fees and England Netball membership fees (you are unable to play league matches without a current England Netball membership, this can be applied for online).
What age can my child play in Adult League?
13 years old. However, they will be required to be successful at trials and selected for our Adult League Team.
What is expected of me if I am selected to play in an Adult League Team?
If you are successful at adult trials and are selected to play for one of our adult league teams, this does require some commitment from you…. for us to enter teams into the league costs money, to secure our place, for the coaches, the courts, the umpire, the administration of pulling together teams etc therefore we take these costs and work out what it will cost us over the year and then divide this equally into 12 affordable monthly payments, which you will need to sign up to. You will need to be available for matches, which are generally held at Sir David English Sports Centre, East Way, Bournemouth BH8 9PZ on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening between 7pm and 9.30pm (time and day will depend on the division you play in). More information on this can be found on the website – www.netballbna.com. You will also require a current England Netball membership and pay the associated fees for that (you are unable to play league matches without a current England Netball membership, this can be applied for online). We would also strongly encourage you to attend weekly team training to enable you to train together as a team.
